life from this lens | august

September 12, 2018 by Kelly Klos

A few days late, but better than never!  Augusts theme for our life from this lens project was “long lens,” which means 85mm or longer.  “Long” lenses give a narrower field of view, and can capture subjects farther away with more detail.  However, my favorite quality of the longer lenses is the ability to compress the the image, causing really beautiful separation between the subject (crisp and sharp), and the background (smooth and blurry).  It’s what makes these longer angles so good for portraits, and my go-to for any portrait session.  Because of this, I took my 70-200 out for some casual portraits of my kiddos.  Most of these were taken at the very long end, closer to 200mm.  Here they are!

And don’t forget to follow the circle around to see what the other ladies did with the long lenses! Start by clicking here for Loren’s page!
